Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also called penance or confession, is the means by which a person confesses their sins before God to receive mercy and absolution. The Church requires Catholics to receive this sacrament at least once per year after their first Reconciliation but encourages more frequent attendance to strengthen against sin and receive grace.

Reconciliation Times: Saturdays

8:00 AM – 8:45 AM
3:15 PM – 4:14 PM
Or by appointment by calling Father Tony VanderLoop, pastor, at (952) 679-9415

Communion

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Catholic faith. It is the understanding of the Catholic Church that the Eucharist, while appearing in the likeness of bread and wine, truly become the body and blood of Jesus Christ, as He claimed at the Last Supper. When we come together at the Liturgy of the Eucharist at mass, we enter into the presence of Christ and the Apostles at the Last Supper and join ourselves to that sacrifice.

Confirmation

Confirmation is a Catholic sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. It is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation for Catholics and is most often associated with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Confirmation emphasizes the transformation of life by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Confirmed Christians claim as fully their own the new life into which they were initiated by Baptism. The Church expresses its continued support and concern for the spiritual growth of those who are confirmed and at the same time looks to them to assist others to grow and mature in the Christian life.

For more information call the parish office 952-227-4000 or info@gachaska.org.

Marriage

The Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public devotion between a man and woman in which each gives themselves totally to the other. The loving union of husband and wife and the upbringing of their children mirrors the love between God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Pre-registration is required at least 6 months in advance for couples wishing to get married at Guardian Angels. During this period, the couple is required to participate in a marriage preparation course and an Engaged Encounter weekend retreat. To start this process, call 952-227-4000 or email info@gachaska.org.

Holy Orders

The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the sacrament by which a man devotes himself to the diaconate, priesthood, or episcopacy (bishop). The role of all who enter into the sacrament is to be a servant leader. Through Holy Orders, the Catholic Church chooses and strengthens the men which she entrusts to the spiritual well-being of the faithful.

Like Marriage, Holy Orders involves choosing a vocation. Men who wish to become priests must enter the seminary for religious formation and a period of discernment before the Church can appoint them to the priesthood.

Anointing of the Sick

The Catholic Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, formerly known as Last Rites or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical but also for mental and spiritual sickness.

The Sacrament of Anointing is extended to those who are experiencing physical, emotional or spiritual challenge. In this sacrament the priest lays hands on the one requesting healing, prays over them in the faith of the Church, and anoints them with oil blessed by the bishop. Through this sacrament, the recipient asks for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Even if the recipient dies, we remain confident of their spiritual healing and revitalization leading up to their death.
