Holy Orders

“Jesus said to the Apostles, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.” -Mark 16: 15-16

The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the sacrament by which a man devotes himself to the diaconate, priesthood, or episcopacy (bishop). The role of all who enter into the sacrament is to be a servant leader. Through Holy Orders, the Catholic Church chooses and strengthens the men which she entrusts to the spiritual well-being of the faithful.

Like Marriage, Holy Orders involves choosing a vocation. Men who wish to become priests must enter the seminary for religious formation and a period of discernment before the Church can appoint them to the priesthood.
