Statement Regarding St. Paul Pioneer Press Article Concerning Fr. Larry Johnson

GA angel small Logo - Hi ResRecently, an article was published in the St. Paul Pioneer Press regarding Rev. Larry Johnson, who was pastor at Guardian Angels from 2000-2007. Rev.  Johnson has been retired since 2009 and is no longer in public ministry.

Many parishioners appreciated Rev. Johnson and some may be concerned about what was written in the article. To our knowledge, the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis has not received an allegation from anyone who indicated that they were sexually abused as a minor by Rev. Johnson, or nor do they know of anyone who was sexually abused as a minor by Rev. Johnson. If anyone receives a complaint, similar to those expressed in the article, those complaints would be investigated immediately.

At Guardian Angels Catholic Church and School, every staff member is focused on the safety and education of children while in our care. In addition, every staff member, school employee, and volunteer attends VIRTUS training, receives a background check and signs and follows a prescribed Code of Conduct. We want to assure you that behavior described in the article is not accepted or tolerated in our school.

If you know anyone who has ever been abused, contact the police immediately. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the pastor or principal directly or the Archdiocese at 651-291-4497.

If you suspect abuse of a minor, your first call should be to law enforcement or child protection officials.  For more information click here.

Please keep the Guardian Angels community and all affected in your prayers.
