GA’s Sunday Homebound Ministry received the 2012 Human Rights Award during the annual Chaska Tree Lighting ceremony on Saturday, Dec 1, at City Square Park. The nomination was submitted by Fran Baird, who receives weekly visits from the Homebound Ministry team. In the nomination she stated: “I never thought of myself as a ‘shut-in’ but that is where I am at this point in my life and I have discovered that shut-ins are people who really need other people. The Homebound program enriches my quality of life immensely, and it also makes me feel like part of the Chaska Community.”
The award was given by the Chaska Human Rights Commission. Other nominees were Pastor Gordon Stewart of Shepherd of the Hill Church, in Chaska and Love INC volunteer extraordinaire, Sarah Carlson. The award will be presented again at a City Council Meeting in January.
